April 17 – Family Literacy / Math Night from 5:00 – 6:30.

April 18 – NO SCHOOL (Good Friday)

April 21 – NO SCHOOL (Easter Monday and a Non-Instruction Day)

April 22 – SPIRIT DAY: Earth Day – Wear blue and/or green


Important Notice:
Next Thursday, the Hug and Go will be closed after school, so you will need to arrange a different pick up spot with your families if you normally use the Hug and Go as your meeting place. Food trucks will be setting up!

Sexual health forms were sent home today. If you would like to exempt your child from this learning, please sign and return the form.
If you do not bring the form in, it is assumed you would like your child to participate in this learning.


This week:

We started Drumfit in Phys. Ed. The Drumfit Master has returned for another year.
 



 



 






We explored improper fractions and mixed number in Math using pattern blocks. We had to represent numbers using blocks, improper fraction, mixed number and number lines.

 



 



 





We completed some creative writing inspired by our photography pictures from a couple weeks ago. We wrote from the perspective of nature. We also got some Pen Pals! Ms. Mundy's cousin teaches grade 5 in St. David's, Ontario. We received our very first letters, and worked on our responses.

 





We continued to explore the digestive system. We learned the jobs of each organ in the system, and worked on labeling our own diagrams, as well as our big posters.

Important notes:  1. Library starts next week 🩵   2. Terry Fox Run = Next Thursday 🏃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We focused on Growth Mindset this week.  After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits!  We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. It's called, "Camping Trip!" Ask me about it.  We are working on using the sound wall to spell big, hard grade 5 words. While working on vocabulary this week, we learned the meaning of the prefix "trans; across or beyond". June 19 – Pizza Fun Lunch – Order at healthyhunger.ca by June 14 This week: We are working on Our Diary Entry in Social Studies - written by a Coureur Des Bois or a Voyageur. We are working on Algebra in Math! In Science we wrapped up our multi- paragraph writing about body systems. and we started exploring matter. We were VERY busy using clay to add to a grade 5 legacy project this week, and busy creating something special for family members..... In Phys. Ed we played some throwing games!

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
