We focused on Growth Mindset this week. 

After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits! 









We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. It's called, "Camping Trip!" Ask me about it. 

We are working on using the sound wall to spell big, hard grade 5 words.

While working on vocabulary this week, we learned the meaning of the prefix "trans; across or beyond". We used this knowledge to make sense of words like, transcribe, transportation, translucent. 

We are also making a "What if Everybody Did That, Vol II" - ask me about it! 

We are working on Place Value in Math. We learned a game called Junk It, and we are completing daily decimal practice to count how far we are through the first 100 days of school. 


We dipped our paint brushes today! We are creating special You Be You, and Only One You inspired fish...

We got together the the grade 5 classes and played an indigenous game called "Tatonka Tatonka" 


And we wrapped up Friday with outdoor Mindfulness; 5 minutes of stillness and calmness, or 5 minutes of mindful sketching.

 "My highlight this week was getting to play Tatonka Tatonka with other grade 5 classes. That meant that I got to see my other friends who are in other classes." - Kadenza

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
