Upcoming Field Trip:

Dear Grade 5 Families,

We’re excited to announce that our Grade 5 students will be heading on a Field Trip to Nose Hill on Thursday, May 29th for a day of exploration and learning in nature. This will be a self-guided trip, giving students the opportunity to engage with their surroundings and apply their classroom learning in a hands-on environment. Thank you to Parent Council for generously providing funds for the bus fees.

We are looking for volunteers who have a current security clearance to join us and help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all students. Your support would be greatly appreciated!

More details about the trip, including times and what students will need to bring, will be shared closer to the date.

If you are available and interested in volunteering, please let us know by replying to this email.

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Sincerely,

The Grade 5 Team

Northern Lights School

MONDAY INFORMATION

Student vote

Check-in about the digestive system

This Week:

We have been working on adding and subtracting fractions. We can add and subtract mixed numbers and improper fractions

We have been learning about the government, to prepare for student vote on Monday. We have briefly explored the different levels of government and the different parties.

We are wrapping up the digestive system and moving into the muscular system for Science. We listened to a performance by some of the classmates about the different systems in our body, and how they work together.

Some of us have started the sexual health unit, while others are working on a project about nutritional health and hydration.

We worked on some Earth Day Learning, discussing some of the major issues across the globe; air pollution, water pollution, plastics, wild fires and global warming, over hunting etc. This kids worked together to brainstorm inventions that could help solve these issues.
