Here are some highlights from our week! 

In math we are continuing work on decimal numbers. We were using base ten blocks to represent decimal numbers and used our models to compare decimal numbers. 

   


In ELAL we are continuing our work on paragraph writing. We are turning our important events in our lives into paragraphs. We focused on topic sentences this week. 
In Phys. Ed we HANDBALL! Ask me what strategy my team used. 
 


Social Studies = mapping skills continued! We were working on using scale to measure distances, and how to accurately write coordinates. We reviewed cardinal direction and intermediate direction. 





 
In  health this week we were focusing on the zones of regulation. We brainstormed as many feelings and emotions as we could, and realized that some emotions are quite complex and can't be categorized easily. 









Ask me all about our amazing Field Study Friday game!! We introduced some new concepts...Producer, consumer and decomposer. We headed out to the field near St. Claire's School so we could RUN!

Important notes:  1. Library starts next week 🩵   2. Terry Fox Run = Next Thursday 🏃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We focused on Growth Mindset this week.  After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits!  We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. It's called, "Camping Trip!" Ask me about it.  We are working on using the sound wall to spell big, hard grade 5 words. While working on vocabulary this week, we learned the meaning of the prefix "trans; across or beyond". June 19 – Pizza Fun Lunch – Order at healthyhunger.ca by June 14 This week: We are working on Our Diary Entry in Social Studies - written by a Coureur Des Bois or a Voyageur. We are working on Algebra in Math! In Science we wrapped up our multi- paragraph writing about body systems. and we started exploring matter. We were VERY busy using clay to add to a grade 5 legacy project this week, and busy creating something special for family members..... In Phys. Ed we played some throwing games!

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
