We had a busy week of learning!
We have continued work on our 5 paragraph essays. These are almost polished off and ready to be turned in.
Math has been fun; while we continue to explore measurement, the students have completed some neat tasks for area and perimeter. They had to find the area and perimeter of their names, find the area and perimeter of Minecraft Steve. They showed the many ways that shapes can look with the same area
Science: Chemistry is wrapping up. We worked on Ph scales. The students got to explore acids and bases this week. They determined if a liquid was an acid or base using litmus paper. They also got to explore the Ph Scale online here.
In Phys. Ed we reviewed games that we have played throughout the year; soccer, basketball, hockey and handball. The students played mini games of each. We also had time this week for some throwing and catching games, and we ended with Freedom Frenzy!
Word Work: we focused more on suffixes. The students learned spelling patterns for words with the suffix -ly . This suffix turns words into adverbs.
Field Study Friday: We headed outside today to do more measuring taks. This students worked together to use measuring tapes and meter sticks to find the length and width of the large soccer field. Then they calculated the area and perimeter. This was a fun, tedious task!
