 Literacy Week kept up busy and engaged! Check out what we have been up to.  Monday was Earth Day, we had some discussions about Planet vs Plastic! and then created political cartoons and recycled paper art.  ELAL - We have been working on writing a multiple paragraph writing piece. We are following the expectations of introduction, 3 body paragraphs and a conclusion. These are all about why I should read their books. I have to admit, the hooks are enticing!  We also had Stop Drop and Read this week. Thursday we traveled everywhere with our books, so that we were ready to stop at any moment and read. We completed a literacy scavenger hunt around the school too! There were clues, letters and a scrambled message to solve. We spent time playing the literacy based games in our classroom, too!  We got to go outside with the entire school to participate in an outdoor reading session. *Please return all forms for Sexual Health Unit*  Our Week at a Glance  Monday was the Solar Eclipse. This was an exciting day, and a wonderful opportunity to learn about some Sky Science! We completed a reading passage explaining what a solar eclipse is, and we answered questions to show our understanding. We also used chalk on black paper to create the illusion of the moon passing in front of the sun through different stages.  The Drumfit master returned this year for Drum Fit!!! The kids have been getting incredible workouts while making music on exercise balls.  We have taken a few angles in Social Studies, all focused on community. We have continued our learning on the indigenous people in the cordillera region (Haida). We have focused on how they use the resources around them to create their community (Cedar trees to build their lng houses, Water to find food).
