Monday and Tuesday Jan. 30/31

 Wow! It has been very busy! 

We have welcomed a new friend to our class, his name is Felix! We are excited to have someone new join us again.

This morning we studied the suffix -ible and -able. This suffix means "capable of" or "fit to".  Some of the words we studied were responsible, reliable, and variable. We brainstormed a TON more! Ask me some! 

We got to play basketball games today and yesterday. We are working on TEAMWORK! 

In Social Studies, we started a new research project. To prepare for this, we did some research/reading on what natural resources are, and we defined renewable and nonrenewable resources. We used this information to help us understand the natural resources in an assigned region. Ask me which region I am studying. 

In math we have continued practicing regrouping with decimals, and we did a little bit of work with algebra! This will be our next unit.

Science has been engaging; we are learning the Scientific method. We are using this method to help us determine the fastest way to dissolve candy in water.

Important notes:  1. Library starts next week 🩵   2. Terry Fox Run = Next Thursday 🏃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We focused on Growth Mindset this week.  After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits!  We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. We are working on Algebra in Math! In Science we wrapped up our multi- paragraph writing about body systems. and we started exploring matter. We were VERY busy using clay to add to a grade 5 legacy project this week, and busy creating something special for family members..... In Phys. Ed we played some throwing games!

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
