We continued a aiming and throwing game in Phys. Ed today.

Today we had a chance to log into Chromebooks for the first time this year. We reviewed our digital Citizenship contracts and expectations. We learned about one of the literacy stations we will be working at this year; Expert Station. Ask me all about it.

In math we reviewed coordinates and continued battling our friends in Battleship. 

We had an exciting opportunity to be leaders this afternoon; we buddied up with one of the grade 2 classes, and helped them build buckets with a budget. Ask me about my buddy, and our strategy. 

Finally, we read about some of the "holes" in the police reports in Math Inspectors. We learned that there are 4 problems in the police reports that don't add up.

Important notes:  1. Library starts next week 🩵   2. Terry Fox Run = Next Thursday 🏃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We focused on Growth Mindset this week.  After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits!  We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. It's called, "Camping Trip!" Ask me about it.  We are working on using the sound wall to spell big, hard grade 5 words. While working on vocabulary this week, we learned the meaning of the prefix "trans; across or beyond". We are working on Algebra in Math! In Science we wrapped up our multi- paragraph writing about body systems. and we started exploring matter. We were VERY busy using clay to add to a grade 5 legacy project this week, and busy creating something special for family members..... In Phys. Ed we played some throwing games!

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
