 Today in Phys. Ed we played Boom city. It was extremely fun! 

Most people have started their maps, they are doing very well. Our life journey in symbols and numbers is coming along great. 

We started Math with basic facts today; this is a daily task with 35 math questions to complete in 4 minutes. We did a group challenge on a big peice of paper. The question to answer was about Farmer John who had pigs and chickens with 22 legs in total. We had to figure out how many pigs and chickens he could have had. There were many options. 

We continued to finish our fishes that we made for art today. We painted them with watercolour paint. The are looking amazing! 

We were introduced to our library and new library procedures. Library books can start to come home in the next week or so. 

We started a read aloud novel today, it is called Math Inspectors. We read the first two chapters. "The main characters are going to an armed robbery." Bassem explains.

Important notes:  1. Library starts next week 🩵   2. Terry Fox Run = Next Thursday 🏃 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We focused on Growth Mindset this week.  After watching some videos on Growth mindset, and learning about ways we can practice this in our daily lives, we created skits!  We learned a new word game...Maybe I can teach the family. It's called, "Camping Trip!" Ask me about it.  We are working on using the sound wall to spell big, hard grade 5 words. While working on vocabulary this week, we learned the meaning of the prefix "trans; across or beyond". We used this knowledge to make sense of words like, transcribe, transportation, translucent.  We are also making a "What if Everybody Did That, Vol II" - ask me about it!  We are working on Place Value in Math. We are working on Algebra in Math! In Science we wrapped up our multi- paragraph writing about body systems. and we started exploring matter. We were VERY busy using clay to add to a grade 5 legacy project this week, and busy creating something special for family members..... In Phys. Ed we played some throwing games!

  We explored some nature kits to prepare for our Field Trip next Thursday. We observed castings of skulls, foot prints, scat, and feet.      In Phys. Ed we are doing gymnastics! We practiced travels, balances and partner balances.          We celebrated Cultural Diversity Day on Wednesday. We designed flags, and many students wore their cultural clothing.            This linked well to our Social Studies learning, about how Canada is so diverse now, but how did that come to be?! We are learned about Samuel De Champlain (the father of New France), John Cabot and Jaques Cartier. They claimed land for England and France. This started the European settlers... We are working on Historical Skits about this too!  In Math we are working on Area and Perimeter, and discovering how 2 shapes can share the same area but have different perimeters.  We also focused on finding the measurements of sides when given the ...
