 We had a busy week of learning!  We have continued work on our 5 paragraph essays. These are almost polished off and ready to be turned in.  Math has been fun; while we continue to explore measurement, the students have completed some neat tasks for area and perimeter. They had to find the area and perimeter of their names, find the area and perimeter of Minecraft Steve. They showed the many ways that shapes can look with the same area  Science: Chemistry is wrapping up. We worked on Ph scales. The students got to explore acids and bases this week. They determined if a liquid was an acid or base using litmus paper. They also got to explore the Ph Scale online here .  In Phys. Ed we reviewed games that we have played throughout the year; soccer, basketball, hockey and handball. The students played mini games of each.  Reminder:  Buy your tickets for the school dance by June 4.  Walk or Wheel Week:   Students who walk or wheel (on a bike, scooter, roller blades or skateboard)  three or more  days during that week, will have their name entered into a draw to win a  scooter and a helmet , donated by the Ward Three City Councilor's office.

Parents of NLS are hosting a dance on June 8 from 6-8 pm. Students should have brought home an invitation this week.... if they somehow jumped out of their bags on the way home, the information is here for you.  This week was cultural appreciation week! Students took time to teach us about their culture/hometowns. It has been so enjoyable learning about these places. We also explored a wonderful website called Free Rice. It's linked in Google Classroom, check it out!  We have been working on writing our 5 paragraph essays in Social Studies. The students are informing the reader about the indigenous people around Canada and how they use the resources. This week in Science we were exploring the surface tension of water! We conducted 2 experiments, one where we were able to make a paperclip float on water, and one where we counted how many water droplets could fit on a penny.  We have continued to add to our Doodle Books while we read City of Ember!
