This morning we started our day off with 7-minutes of writing. Our word to include was "capable". Claire wrote a wonderfu story about Taya's hamster, and Felix wrote about a soccer star.  They then went off to music to practice their rhythms, and then played mystery beat maker. We read a news article about the space helicopter ingenuity that one of our characters in A Rover's Story is based on. Ask me what the article was about!  Then...we of course read a abit more of the book. We started part 4!  The kids were chemists today. They conducted a few different experiments, manipulating a variable or two and making observations.  We had Makerspace with Mrs. Barden's class, and the kids had to create scenes from the novel.  Finally, we wrapped up with day with math. The kids went to "Safari Restaurant"!

We used this information to help us understand the natural resources in an assigned region. Ask me which region I am studying.  In math we have continued practicing regrouping with decimals, and we did a little bit of work with algebra! This will be our next unit. Science has been engaging; we are learning the Scientific method. We are using this...

We are into Part 3 of the book, so we stopped to do some character analysis. We focused on 4 characters from the book, sketched out what we think they look like, and then wrote down some character traits about each character. We were challenged with the task of backing up these traits with evidence from the book. For example, we know that Xander is a jokester/comedian because he cracks a...
