REMINDER: Tomorrow is Pyjama Day! Tomorrow is also hot chocolate tasting! If you would like to bring your own mug, please do! We just ask that you be mindful of the mug you choose (Can it break? Will you be heartbroken if it does break?)  Today we had a busy day. We worked on passing skills in soccer for Phys. Ed. We also played silent soccer. We took up our Social Studies map comparison assignment and wrote a reflection about this.  We introduced Zentangles, and watched some videos for inspiration on new zentangle pattern ideas. This is ractice for an upcoming art project.  After lunch today, we worked on representing decimal numbers in expanded fraction and expanded decimal form.  Finally, we revisited our skits in Science, and worked on enhancing the story plan. Then we had a chance to go practice them outside to wrap up our day!

We came back from Fall Break and we had a marvellous time in Music! We played the witches broomstick game. When we did Folktale writing, we wrote it in our writing journals. We had to improve it or add more adjectives. We also had to draw a picture based on a description Garlock; he had two horns that bent on the end, he had very dark scales, and very sharp claws and scary teeth. In math we did Basic Facts and for decimals we worked through a worksheet, we ordered them, write the numbers, and adding and subtracting decimals. We learned about indigenous people and how they were treated in and after war.

We did some more exploration about the history of Remembrance Day, the symbol of the poppy, and Indigenous Veteran's Day.  We had our first assembly of the year. The students were VERY respectful. We heard performances by the grade 3's and 4's. Rhythm and Claire did a fabulous job leading the assembly. Taylor and Josh represented our class as our wreath layers.  We went outside for some Daily Physical Activity.  In math we started a fun project reviewing coordinate points. Ask me about it! We finished up our maps in Social Studies today.  Have a FANTASTIC fall break! See everyone back on the 15th!

7 minutes of writing was fun, as always! The picture prompts today were space-inspired and survival inspired.  In Phys. Ed we played a new game called Yoshi Tag. It was amazing! Ask me about the rules.  When we came inside, we presented some of our written work to the class, and then we had art. Some students finished up their Tim Burton selfies, while others worked on Day of the Dead inspired sugar skulls. Ask me about the Day of the Dead festival, and how I decided to design my skull.  We read more from A Rover's Story. Ask me what is happening!
